Golden Kamuy – Chapter 146

With this release, we are finally caught up!  That’s crazy!

EDIT:  For people asking us to delay releasing chapters so we don’t spoil people on Twitter – save your breath.  We have no intention whatsoever of doing that.  We’re already releasing the chapters after the official release date, and that’s plenty of consideration as far as we’re concerned.  We simply don’t care if people are angry on Twitter.

Thank you as always, but you really can’t wait at least a week after the chapter originally comes out in Japan? To make sure everyone who wants to buy the magazine won’t get spoiled? :/ Those who pay are the ones who keep publication going, do consider their feelings…

I also agree with this. Some other series have this kind of problem where those who pay to read it weekly got spoiled because they saw the English translation that was released early/within the week of the first magazine publication.
Please consider about this. Thank you

Because this english translation groups is spoiling the japanese fans and keeping them from buying the magazine? what kind of logic is that? why would they go out of their way to look at english translations?

you’re very wrong when you said GK is not extremely popular
not long time ago, there was quite an outrage regarding this problem. You’re just not aware about it
this is not about ‘NOT BUYING CAUSE I SAW THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION ALREADY’ more about ‘I paid to see the newest chapter and I ended up getting spoiled because a someone draw a fanart regarding the newest chapter’.
It’s about respecting those who paid. Are we telling them to stay out of the internet to avoid this?

They don’t go out for the translations. That’s the problem. I presume you’re not really involved in the fandom on Twitter, at least not with the Japanese side? What happened was this: As GK began to attract more fans from the English-speaking side of the world, they and the Japanese fans began to interact more. Japanese fans too were interested in looking at fanarts etc made by overseas fans. They began following overseas fans/fanartists too. One day overseas fans got their hands on a raw chapter a week ahead of its publication in Japan. They took screenshots and tweeted them. The Japanese fans accidentally saw them and they got really upset because they DID’T want to be spoiled. But the spoilers were on their timeline, they DIDN’T want to see them but overseas fans posted them openly where even people who don’t look for them can see. The Japanese fans respect original publication so much and they want to keep being thrilled while reading the new chapters that they wait for to buy every week. They don’t want their enthusiasm get dampened by irresponsible people. This is all about respect. It’s not about whether the fandom is small or not, or whether other overseas fandoms do not care about disrespecting Japanese fans or not.

    • No, I am not. I am tired of you trying to play internet police. The official release was several days ago, and the raws were leaked even EARLIER than that. Anyone who was going to be spoiled by it already has been. We will release as close to the official release date as possible, but not any earlier. Please take your whining somewhere else.

JP fans who wanted to be spoiled would look for those spoilers already but they know better to not to post it on public out of respect to those who don’t. This kind of attitude is not known around English-speaking fans.
Scanlators sure don’t have all the power to control this, but perhaps, you can help to keep it checked even just a bit.
if that’s your choice, so be it. At least now we’re clear on our points regarding this.

Wooh! Congragulations on being caught up! I feel like seeing Sugimoto in berserk mode is a little sad somehow :/
And I don’t get this whole *spoiler* argument….so just keep up the good work! I mean, I really don’t get it. It takes some serious effort to read a whole chapter. So it shouldn’t be too difficult to realise that it’s a chapter you haven’t read and simply not look at the rest. There is a chapter/title page for a reason.

The problem is that people who read the scanlated Eng chapters tweet pages from the latest chapters or discuss them, using hashtags that make those posts visible to EVERYONE. So you can’t really avoid spoilers :/ It’s understandable if Japanese fans get upset when they spend money on reading this series but they get spoiled by illegal scanlations. That said, I’m grateful for EH scans for translating the series, and I don’t post things like that on twitter, AND it’s not the scan group’s responsibility what the readers do – but I think we can agree that if they waited with the releases, some of those readers wouldn’t be able to post spoilers. At the end of the day, it’s the group’s choice to make the release whenever they want but that’s the gist of the issue.

The problem is people, in 2018, caring about spoilers – and worse, complaining about spoilers. Nobody actually puts a pistol to your head to make you open a post or read a page. If YOU don’t want to be “spoiled” (that is, you claim you don’t want to read about something), it’s YOUR task NOT to, surprise surprise, read things online about whatever you said didn’t want to read about. It’s not EVERYBODY ELSE ON THE INTERNET’s task not to talk about whatever you said you don’t want to talk about.

        That @#%$! simple.

Why such an aggressive tone? I just explained what the issue is, since OP didn’t know what this is all about.

Oh. Okay, I get it. I understand it is bothersome for those that don’t want spoilers. But it’s just one of those cons of social media. I really can’t relate to their frustration. When I see a spoiler I feel more like i’m seeing a commercial for something. Like, I know i’ll see the whole thing eventually, and usually really soon, so it isn’t like it’s ruined my experience at all. Just gives me something to speculate over till I see it for myself.

People not wanting to be spoiled should just get off those parts of the internet or mute tags 🙂

Amazing translation job, I’ve always loved your choice of words for GK. The editing and type setting for the manga is top tier (extra kudos for always putting in the sfx translations!). The end explanation page for each chapter is super appreciated! And… Seriously? People are COMPLAINING about early English releases? #firstworldproblems #ehscansftw
